Hello, my name is Evie!
I am currently completing a Psychology degree at the University of Reading and am looking forward to being able to combine my two passions of psychology and teaching with FindTutuors.
I have lots of experience working with both primary school children and secondary school children, doing one-to-one tutoring in both maths and science to help them love learning. I have helped multiple students improve their confidence and grades.
I believe that learning should always be fun and enjoyable, to ensure this I always make sure my students feel confident to be able to ask me questions at any point and to suggest teaching styles best suited to them. I always ask for feedback from students at the end of the session to make sure they are happy with their understanding of all topics covered and the style of the lesson. When teaching I prioritise organisation of the sessions, making sure that they are well structured and easy to follow.
Usually, I will start off with a discussion of the pre-existing knowledge that the student has on the topic, then will go onto teaching of the topic, making sure to check in with the student to ensure they understand everything being taught. For the second half of the session I usually focus on answering exam style questions, either together with the student or letting the student do it on their own and providing feedback for them.
