With 1-1 tutoring, I like to provide in depth feedback and analysis on students essay structure, after reviewing their work to help them formulate the correct and concise patterns of essay structure for the appropriate texts and exams

Using power point and other visual resources we will then go over a range of themes and text analysis, creating ideas as well as looking at secondary texts and resources to help with understanding and analysing texts. This allows the student to strengthen their knowledge of the text, thus improving their independent analysis of texts as well as their confidence with the texts/ essays.

I also like to spend time in the session on idea formulating. This is exercise allows students to talk me through their ideas and opinions in depth, and learn to expand them and ultimately refine their ideas from thoughts, to essay answers. This is an engaging discussion with a range of prompts and extracts I provide.

I view my teaching style as personalised, thorough and focused on the individual students needs, which cannot be covered in class.
