Hello! I’m Eve, a recent graduate from the University of Oxford with a degree in history and English and I am about to begin an MA in English studies at the University of Durham. I am able to tutor in both history and English up to A-Level. I am also happy to provide support with university applications, as well as Oxbridge specific entrance exams and interviews. I strive to create engaging and supportive learning environments and offer friendly, relaxed lessons that are tailored exactly to what the pupil requires.
I have teaching and tutoring experience in a variety of settings, both in schools and online. In 2019 I completed a week of work experience in the English department of a secondary school. The role included being a general classroom assistant and working 1 on 1 with pupils across all five year groups. I also spent a year volunteering once a week in a year one classroom at a local primary school to help pupils individually with guided reading exercises. More recently, I planned and delivered online tutoring sessions to aid prospective Oxford students with the history aptitude test (HAT).
I believe in tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs and learning styles of each student. Whether it’s breaking down difficult concepts and texts, providing additional writing practice, or offering strategies for test-taking and university interviews, I adapt my teaching content and methods in order to ensure that the student gets the most out of my lessons. I prioritize creating a supportive and encouraging atmosphere where questions are welcomed and challenging material can be worked through at the student’s own pace. My aim is to build, not just subject specific knowledge, but also confidence when it comes to writing and problem solving. I am committed to helping students achieve academic success and reach their full potential whilst fostering a greater love for learning.
