I like to begin with a simple but engaging starter exercise, to get the brain warmed up! I like to tailor my lessons and their format to the student, as everyone learns differently and requires unique techniques and strategies to effectively achieve their goals. As such, I generally include a mixture of challenging activities alongside note-taking, and I make sure to include visual elements to the lesson - videos, pictures, etc - to avoid losing the students attention. At the end of the lesson I have a number of questions, a final activity, or ‘quiz’, to ensure consolidation and allow both myself and the student to keep track of what areas may need further improvement and attention!
