I always prioritise my student's voice, and we will set ground rules and boundaries for one another, establishing a respectful and open-minded working relationship. I use a range of teaching methods, which I keep highly adaptable based on each student's needs. My lessons will always relate to something real - an English lesson, for example, will be abundant with examples of real texts. I am happy to teach traditionally through visual means - videos, presentations, note-taking, and discussion-based lessons. I am equally happy to make our lessons practical and hands-on - giving us a chance to work through tasks together, applying the knowledge we cover to real scenarios, objects, novels, artworks, music - whatever the lesson calls for. I encourage an interdisciplinary and holistic understanding of the world from my students - promoting the ethos that learning doesn't stop outside of the classroom, and that every subject we cover is related in some way - that knowledge is more expansive and nuanced than a typical class might suggest.
