I usually adapt my lessons to the learning environment that my students feel the most comfortable in, to allow them to express themselves confidently and feel able to make mistakes without judgement. Most students enjoy a laidback approach, where language practice is very conversational, allowing us to get to know each other and to expand language skills to cover a wide range of topics. I believe that this format allows the student to get the most out of the sessions and highlights potentially repeated language errors, with immediate correction so that the student can see where they might go wrong and incorporate the amends into the language easily. I like to create visual aids to keep lessons engaging and memorable, as well as various games and activities.
