I worked at a secondary school as an academic mentor, tutoring one-to-one and in small groups on the following: GCSE's - Mathematics, Computer Science, Sciences (Trilogy), English Literature and Language of differing ages from yr 7 all the way up to yr 11. I am currently studying Computer Science at university which will allow me to give further insight and help with especially Computer Science. And I have completed A Levels in Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics.
I give an initial baseline test to see where the student is at currently, the planning my lessons accordingly. They will have a test every end of topic to see how they have improved and any areas which will need to be focused on more. Each lesson will consist of starter activities, a presentation, more activities which will be completed with assistance when required. Students will also be provided with resources to work on their own if they wish so, and work to complete after the sessions which will be marked and reflected during the next session. All their work will be given detailed feedback on how they have done, the positives, and any improvements to be made.
Students are guided following exam board resources closely with additional learning planned or provided advice if they wish to move further at no additional costs.
Students will also be guided through mock tests to provide experience on how to answer questions, how marks can be gained and how to gain all the marks available whilst efficiently managing the time they have to complete a test within.
Being a university student will allow students to be more comfortable during the sessions as they will feel less intimidated and more at ease as I am still in their position being a student myself.
