I have experience of 6 years teaching physics via online at New York Academy of Science and at Kepler University program working with Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) and College for America(CFA).
In my teaching process is spilt into three stages:
1) Pre-reading materials: This is the stage where the learners are shared with the reading and answer some questions linked to it. This stage should be graded by using clear and concise rubric. This tool of assessment should also be shared with the learners ahead of time so that they can work on it basing on the criteria of success. Furthermore, this tool will allow me to classify the students into 3 stages( slow learners, medium and advanced learners). This should not be displayed on platform for the sake of demotivating the learners.
2) In-Class Materials: This is the stage where the learners are getting the clarity on the complex points that they will have not assimilated during the pre-class materials. This is the stage where the course facilitator is interacting actively with the learners and create conducive atmosphere, where the learners can feel free to ask any questions( clarifying questions, probing questions as well as critical thinking questions). This stage is followed with the group work which can be presented by learners as well.
3) Homework: This is the stage of assessing the achievement of the objectives and also set the remediation session for the sake of supporting the learners to internalize the skills learned.
