I always found mathematics came easily to me and often received awards in school for my abilities in Maths. However, during my time in school I realised that my ability to do maths was also reliant on the competency of my teachers so I decided to pursue a career in teaching mathematics and applied mathematics. I am currently studying for a BSc in Mathematics with Education in Maynooth University. I hope to then complete a Masters in Education to become a qualified teacher in Ireland. I believe you can only teach a student what they want to learn so I will allow the students to tell me what topics they would like to revise every session. I will have a focused lesson plan based on that topic prepared for the tutoring session. We will cover exam question and the necessary equations, expressions, formulae, and proofs. I will tailor the sessions to suit the students preferred ways of learning, I myself learn best by trying to do multiple questions in a topic until I can understand the pattern in the workings. I will follow the topics outlined in the curriculum to ensure they are all covered and the student has an understanding of as many topics as they need. I will also provide free typed notes and exam question solutions that will be available for the student to download and print after a lesson. The student will be given a set of questions to complete on the revised topic after each session to be handed up at the next session I will check and mark and return to the student with feedback.
