I am hoping to gain experience through tutoring students and sharing my passion for English! I have gained experience within secondary schools by helping out in GCSE and Key Stage 3 English lessons. I am hoping to pursue a career in teaching English in secondary education, as I am currently a first year student at Newcastle University studying English Language. My schedule is flexible as I am only in University ten hours a week, meaning I have sufficient time to plan in depth, personal lessons for students. I achieved an A grade in English Language A level this summer, therefore it is an area I am confident in teaching in. In addition, I am also open to delivering lessons for GCSE English language and I achieved a grade 8 in this subject. The exam board I am very familiar of is AQA for both GCSE and A-Level as this was the exam board I took my exams under. In particular, I can provide support with A-level topics such as sociolinguistics, these including areas like language change, gender, occupation etc. Although I have an in-depth knowledge of both Paper 1 and 2 in AQA English Language A-Level, sociolinguistics is an area which I am very confident in. I am able to provide example essays that have achieved high marks, and providing advice on the content needed to include in essays as well as how to structure essay responses. In relation to the paper 1 content, my expertise lies in the terminology based area. For example identifying word classes and how this relates to the wider context. I am an outgoing and social individual who really wants to help and inspire young people, especially with teaching English.
