My experience both learning and teaching languages to a high level of proficiency will act as a base for the lessons I provide. As a native French speaker, I have a strong grasp of conservational French. To compliment this, I took French language classes throughout school, and as a result, have also achieved a high level of academic reading and writing competencies. I hope to improve both elements of my students' French capabilities in my lessons.
Lessons will be wide-ranging in topic and format but specified to the individual. In each of the lessons, I will target one of the main areas of language-learning-- reading comprehension, speaking competency or translation-- by running exercises including conversing with students in French after learning new vocabulary, for instance.
Other exercises, depending on the student's specific needs, include oral comprehension, where I read French sentences that they translate in English, or reading comprehension, where first translate then discuss a French excerpt together.
Lessons will also depend on the objectives of the student. For those who are studying French as a foreign language at school, it is vital that the contents of my lessons match those that are likely to be on exams. As such, we will review homework in each of our lessons together and work together on the mistakes made in school work. On the other hand, for those seeking tutelage because they wish to brush up on their conversational French, I will focus on speaking, oral comprehension and essential vocabulary when visiting French-speaking nations.
To conclude, the tuition I provide will be based on the individual, using a variety of teaching methods including French-English translation, vocabulary flashcards and simulated conversations to improve the student's grasp of the French language.
