Firstly, I start with going over content. Then, I use past paper questions as well as other websites (BBC Bitesize) to ask the students questions. After they have answered, I will mark and correct what they have said. If there is anything in particular the student is struggling with, or has questions about, we will then go over that content again. I also tend to go over material in multiple different ways until I find a way which suits the student best. If I feel it is needed, at the end of the session I sometimes set a few questions for the student to work on before our next lesson together to test their knowledge and ensure they are remembering the content. At the next lesson, we will start by marking their homework and going over any incorrect answers. While doing all of the above, I ensure the student is feeling comfortable and happy with how the sessions are progressing by asking them if they are enjoying the tutoring, if they feel it is helping and what I can do better to provide them with support. If they have any feedback on things they would do differently or how I can improve to better help them, I will take what they say and incorporate it into our sessions to ensure the student is benefiting from our lessons to the highest extent. I have previous experience of doing this from tutoring younger family members as well family friends. I have had a high success rate in doing so as they all received a better grade after my tutoring. I like to ensure I personalise my techniques for each student to make sure they gain the best experience while improving their learning.
