I am a current Cancer Research PhD student who will be completing teacher training as part of my course, to tutor undergraduate students. I am passionate about helping students achieve their goals by providing easy-to-understand explanations of topics, delivered to them in a way that aids their learning.

I currently have a contract with Routledge Publishers for the publication of my brain anatomy colouring book – Colour Your Cortex. The book includes simple explanations of brain anatomy and brain mechanisms as well as detailed, labelled diagrams for students to colour in. The book comes with an audio podcast, recorded by myself, where I explain psychological and anatomical topics and constructs. The topics of the book were decided by studying A-Level, GCSE and undergraduate syllabuses so that it covers the topics that are vital to current student’s learning. This means that I am already familiar with topics that the students may need extra support with. Colour Your Cortex aims to provide a different style of learning for those who may not find typical ‘textbook learning’ easy.

Being diagnosed with dyslexia myself, I understand the need to explore different learning styles for each student, to ensure that the information is being presented to them in ways that is suitable for their needs. I am passionate about tailoring different learning styles in order for students to achieve their goals.

I achieved an A in A-Level Psychology and a First Class Hons in Psychology, where I won an award for my BSc Research. This award involved creating a video to explain my dissertation in under 60 seconds. I am particularly interested in Neuropsychology / Biological Psychology, but have also studies Behavioural Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Psychodynamic approach, Research Methods along with many others. I am familiar with exam technique needed for GCSEs, A-Level and Undergraduate exams and would be able to help students and share the tips that I have recently used myself that enabled me to be a successful student.

On a personal level, I am friendly, warm, approachable and caring. I feel that as I have completed my own A-Levels in 2018, students will be able to relate to me and I will be able to understand their struggles when it comes to learning. I feel that this will help me build a professional relationship with the students, where they feel heard, understood, and cared about.

I feel that I have the skills, knowledge, motivation, passion, and personality to be a successful tutor and make a difference to students. My goal would be to tailor each tutoring session for each student, ensuring they leave each session feeling more confident about their potential and ensuring they feel that they have understood the topics more.
