I have taught a wide range of courses in Literature and History at University - at the University of Lincoln, the University of Manchester and the University of Huddersfield. I have been a dissertation tutor at all of these places.
My classes are fun, enjoyable, and importantly they will give you lots of practical experience to improve your skills. I give good thorough feedback to help you learn and develop. I'm very approachable and friendly, with a good sense of humour. There will be exercises to work through to develop English skills. I will introduce topics and terms and explain them clearly. You are always welcome to ask any questions, or to get things explained in a different way. If you are studying towards an exam, I will use past exam papers so that you know exactly what to expect on the day.
If you have any special learning needs, please let me know, so that I can ensure the lesson meets your needs. I produce good quality handouts, so that you have a resource to refer back to after the lesson.
I will as much as possible try to incorporate your interests to ensure the lessons are exiting and relevant to you. When relevant I will use up to date sources for us to analyse the English in. I will from time to time use snippets of film, or music, or cartoons to help aid learning; but mostly it will be using books, sometimes newspaper or magazine articles. I will teach lessons online via platforms such as Zoom or Skype.
