Hi there! I'm Emma, a second year law student. I am passionate about teaching and helping others reach their full potential.
I am originally from South Africa, where there are 11 official languages, so English is the common language spoken between everyone. English isn't my home language, but I have been speaking it since I can remember. From seventh grade, I took English as a home language, whilst also taking my actual home language (Afrikaans) alongside it. I am a confident speaker and hope to help my students boost their own confidence when speaking English.
My lessons will consist of an initial talk about what the student's goals are with our tutoring sessions, and an evaluation of their skill level. After establishing that, we will practice informal conversations and pronunciations. We will also do reading and comprehension exercises. For my younger students, we will also use learning games to make learning English a more fun experience. If my students have any English tests coming up at school, I will help them with revision and ensure they feel confident in taking the test. Any specific topic requests are welcome.
I want to help my students feel comfortable with their English knowledge, and want to get them to a level where they can speak English without feeling self-conscious, scared or embarrassed. I know first hand how daunting it is to speak a language you might not be comfortable in, but I am here to help my students conquer that fear, and reach their full potential.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to send me a message! :)
