I am a very motivational, patient, and encouraging tutor, and my teaching style is more dynamic as I prefer to use a combination of visual, auditory, and hands-on techniques. I typically approach online lessons in a manner similar to Khan Academy, and with screen sharing capabilities, the student will be able to interact and solve problems during the lesson. White boards will be our best friend for in person lessons, and I can provide these if none are available. Psychology studies report that a major part of the learning process involves active problem solving and trying to explain new concepts, and I find that discussion-based learning methods are very helpful for students. I promise that monotone lecturing with powerpoints will not be the norm (unless this method is preferred). Each lesson is tailored to the student's needs, which we will discuss during the first free lesson. Every student learns in their own way, so I am a firm believer that there is no one-size-fits-all teaching style. I also have experience tutoring students with learning disabilities, special needs, and enduring extenuating life circumstances both in the classroom and individually. While working toward my bachelor's degree in neuroscience, I also participated in course trips to the local 6th grade where I would help run interactive stations for students wanting to learn more about neuroscience. I am now finishing up a master's degree in neuroscience research at the University of St Andrews and look forward to passing on the knowledge I have gained and becoming more active in the community.
