I have been a yogi most of my life. I started meditating and practising yoga when I was 19 and have been teaching for over 22 years. I love teaching and seeing the transformational effects that yoga has on my students (and me!). I live a yogic lifestyle and I believe that yoga is for everyone. It is my goal to pass on the ancient knowledge, so others can experience the true spirit of yoga and begin to integrate some of this wisdom into their lives. Beginners or experienced are welcome.
Satyananda Yoga offers a systematic, integrated approach to evolving a healthy body and mind. It incorporates the whole person, not just the physical body, promoting the balance between body, mind, emotions and spirit.
There is an emphasis on awareness and students are encouraged to learn about all aspects of their personality through yoga. Through awakening individuals’ awareness and inherent self-healing powers, physical diseases and mental stress can be managed and relieved. By steadying the emotions and calming the mind, a sense of perspective can be gained, bringing a feeling of peace, freedom and inner strength.
Classes are generally 1 1/2 hours long including asana (postures) to balance the body and mind through the physical body, pranayama (breathing practices) to work on the energy of the body, Yoga Nidra for deep relaxation and meditation to calm and focus the mind. Yogic Lifestyle is also taught and encouraged.
I look forward to working with you. with love, Emma
