Hi! Firstly, I’d like to make it really clear that my sessions are all about the needs of the student, not only academically, but individually. I highly regard the importance of a students comfort and self assurance in allowing the gateway to learning. Feeling understood, valued, appreciated and respected will be the greatest fuel to any knowledge development.
With this information, I tailor my lessons to provide teaching in the way that my students feel most constructive. Whether that means teaching the context whilst giving that extra push and motivation, developing that self confidence, or nurturing that growth in the background; there is no individual that I cannot adapt to be able to support in the best way possible.
Additionally, I do not employ a high and intense pressure to my teaching. Making my lessons engaging, supportive, and uplifting all in a safe and secure space is my main priority. Their progression is highly monitored, and their knowledge will be tested; however I do not believe in doing this through the traditional ‘on-the-spot’ methods which may cause nervousness, self-doubt, and panic, as these can manifest into a fear of failure and fear of learning.
I also aim to equip all my students with a toolbox of strategies and coping mechanisms that they can utilise in pressured situations, such as exams or deadlines. This will allow students to become comfortable with the idea of those situations and enable them to really showcase their abilities.
As equally important, I use my own experience as a student to create lesson content that is enriched with invaluable information in the most efficient way possible for learning. Rather than information overload on dull and plain PowerPoint slides, I show the most important and useful information in a clear manner which is easy to process and retain. I embed this priority knowledge in useful and applicable context to allow a deeper understanding of the topic. This will allow for increased immediate retention of crucial information, as well as forming a great foundation for easy future learning.
