As a student of a tutor of the past, I have some background knowledge of how all this works. Before beginning any teachings, I would like to test my students to see what their knowledge is at initially. Then I shall find the gaps in their knowledge and fill it in. I think the best way to teach is to follow roughly at the speed they are going at school or maybe slightly ahead, i.e. what they have learnt in school that day/week and if they have any questions about the content, if they do great, if not I’ll follow their syllabus and prepare them for what they are learning next so they have a heads up on what’s being taught next and so they will not fall behind. I’ll set them weekly homework to really solidify their understanding. It will be a professional environment, but nothing too strict, the lessons will be engaging.
