I work closely with the exam specification to ensure that I cover all the exam content. I work on the topics that the student struggles with by explaining through difficult concepts until the student feels confident that they understand it. I will test the students knowledge on the topic to ensure they have understood it correctly. My next stage is to work through exam questions to show the students how to answer them, and what they need to say to gain marks, and then I will give them some questions to answer on their own without my help. I will also start sessions by quizzing the students on previous topics we have covered, as scientists say that active revision is the most effective. I also get students to explain to explain to me / talk through topics as this stimulates the part of the brain that is needed to recall information. It takes 6 times for information to be held within your long-term memory, so I will often provide the student with questions or get them to talk through topics that we have covered in the past, to make sure that the information is not forgotten.
Most importantly I will work based on the students needs and what they want to get out of my tutoring sessions.
