I have had 3 years experience working with primary and secondary school aged children in a school environment. This has helped me to develop an understanding in tailoring explanations and lessons to suit a variety of abilities and knowledge levels. With this, I am able to change lesson plans to suit the way that each student works best to help you get the most out of your lessons. I am able to focus on either lesson content or exam preparation to help students feel confident going into their GCSE exams. 1 on 1 tutoring also allows me to get to know students on a more personal level to be able to meet their needs more accurately and go at a pace which feels comfortable to the student. I use a variety of techniques such as games, essay practice (both guided and isolated), traditional lesson presentation, and mnemonics. In my experience, I have found that using a mix of traditional and non traditional teaching techniques produces the best results as it allows the students to place the knowledge in many contexts which helps memorisation and solid application of the knowledge. Additionally, by working with students alongside their school lessons, I am able to further develop my understanding and experience by working with a range of teaching strategies unique to each student.
