- Focus on allowing students to feel comfortable, as this is incredibly important when learning a language.
- All main parts of language covered: grammar, vocabulary, reading, listening and oral.
- Making learning Spanish as fun as possible: listening to music, watching films, and playing games are all significant combined with student engagement.
My experience:
- I am a recent Durham University graduate, having achieved a First Class Degree in Spanish and Italian, with level C1 in Spanish and B2 in Italian. I received an A* at GCSE, a 7 at IB (equivalent to A* in A-level), and am on track to graduate with a 1st class qualification.
- I have been learning Spanish for more than 8 years, Au paired in Madrid, and travelled in Costa Rica, with innate knowledge of Hispanic culture and traditions.
- I have volunteered and worked as a teaching assistant in different schools with students of different ages since I was 15.
- I have tutored local students in person and online during the pandemic at GCSE level.
- I am very friendly and chatty, and believe the best way to learn a language is firstly to feel comfortable with your tutor. I use engaging material such as films, series, music, and games to make Spanish as fun as possible. I like to focus on student-led teaching, meaning the student will tell me what they would like to focus on, and I will follow their lead and build on that.
