Hi, I'm Elliott.
I'm an A Level student with a passion for English and language. A lot of my teaching focuses on skills the student will actually need either in the exams they are preparing for, or in the real world.
I am proficient in grammar, language, and structure as a native speaker; and have tutored my sister and family friends for short periods of time during and after lock down.
My lessons follow a very simple structure that usually lasts an hour. I start with a recap that lasts for around 10 minutes and then let the student choose from two lessons I have planned, this gives the student control over their learning which is highly motivating for them. Then I teach the main content of the lesson using a PowerPoint presentation, allowing the student to ask any questions as we go through. I give out digital worksheets to make sure the student correctly understands the material we've learnt. During the last 10 minutes of the lesson, I give out a mini quiz so the student is able to see that they are learning.
The first lesson with a pupil is different to the regular as I gauge with the student where they would be best to focus their energy and time. I usually recommend 1 lesson a week or 1 lesson every two weeks to avoid burnout for the student. I also don't set homework because the student doesn't need to do homework for me when they are already doing other subjects and are coming to my lessons. I can, however, give out extra worksheet on request if the student feels they would benefit from that.
I can give the adult as much or as little information about the lessons as they wish. We can talk about this through email or video call, whichever is best.
Hope to hear from you soon
