Elliot Sharp

Hello! I'm Elliot, a young lad from the North East with a total of 7 years experience in the chemistry world after completing my masters degree back in 2016. I completed my PhD which focused mainly on polymer chemistry and polymer formulations. During this time I published 2 papers and created a foundation of an academic work group which is now thriving. During this period I tutored students both in theoretical and practical skills.
I've also worked in the pharmaceutical industry developing and synthesizing drug to combat numerous cancers. This is where I got most of my synthesis experience working long hours in the lab creating and purifying organic compounds for testing.
Now I currently work as a scientist, working alongside companies focusing on developing and optimizing the latest materials, technology and products to innovate society. Throughout these years I've managed, tutored, and mentored students, apprentices and inexperienced staff members. I believe teaching can be done in a way that can be enjoyable AND effective. I became inspired to study chemistry from my A Level teacher who showed me the vast range and valuable skills chemistry can provide.
