I have been teaching at a primary school for over 5 years. I was trained teach all the subjects at a primary school level like English, Chichewa, Life skills, Agriculture, Science, Expressive Arts, Social studies and Mathematics.
In addition to that I went for further studies where I specialized in teaching social sciences at a secondary school level. I am certified to teach basic Economics, History, Social Studies, Life Skills, and any social science subject.
I mostly use learner centered methods that ensures learner participation in my classes. If you hire me as your tutor, expect to take part in my classes whether through answering questions or doing activities. I also believe in continuous assessments that help to keep learners ready for any exams.
When teaching I start with an introduction which takes 2-5 minutes which involves 1 or 2 activities. The activities may include: singing (for face to face infant/primary kids), questions to see your level of understanding, stories, and other tactics. However, my introduction is always in line with lesson to be delivered. To make it more lively, I use teaching and learning materials that are relevant to the topic.
In the developmental stages, I switch my teaching methods so that students should not feel bored in my class. To track the students’ understanding, I use follow up questions that help me whether to repeat whatever learners misunderstood or not. The developmental stages are divided into 3. Each stage contains its own activity with its own teaching style.
At the end of my lessons, I put conclusion which sums up all the activities. This conclusion can be in form of questions, summary or a simple activity. Before closing the class, students are told what the next lesson will hold to get prepared. Sometimes assignments are given at the end of the lesson as well.
