I try to take a fun approach to learning with my students by playing games, flash cards, powerpoints and by incorporating their favourite music and films into lessons by watching/listening to them in the language desired. I have 2+ years as a private tutor teaching these languages and have had great success. I tend to use an initial session as a baseline for what the student already knows, what they’re interested in, why they want to learn this language and how they tend to learn things. Each student is different and it’s important to acknowledge how important the learning strategies are to the success. My lesson plans follow the stages of learning, starting with the basics and taking steps to fully learn the basics before we progress. I operate on a schedule so that we as a team aim to know so much by this stage in our professional engagement, and if we don’t meet that target then we can reevaluate and develop a new learning plan. I know how scary and frustrating it may be learning a new language so I also act as a companion, whilst teaching I’ll always be learning a new language (currently spanish) so I can completely resonate with the lengthy, difficult bumps in the journey. My lesson plans differentiate with age and with student meaning I will have specific lesson plans for each student barring the first tester session. The first will be a basic coverage and to develop an understanding of the students knowledge of the language. The rest will be made and created for each student.
