Hello, I'm Ellie and I have recently graduated with a degree in drawing.
In my lessons, depending on the aims of the student, I will start with a drawing warm up to have some fun, engage the brain and get used to gesture. These warm ups can involve a range of speeds and limitations (i.e. draw with the wrong hand, condense the subject into four simple lines, don't take your hand off the paper etc.). After these warm ups I teach different technical approaches the life drawing, such as measuring, triangulation, plum line techniques etc. These techniques allow us to 'measure' the subject with the eye and an extended arm.
Other drawing features we will cover include gesture (the expressive movement of a line), composition (framing and organising an image), line quality and tonal range. A combination of these focuses will create dynamic and interesting images with your own artistic flare.
In these sessions we can use a range of tools (charcoal, graphite, monotype, pen, pastel, paint etc.) of your choosing to create multiple fast practises and sustained focuses. The lessons are never set in stone and can be adapted to your preferences, underpinned by fun and encouragement! I am happy to provide all equipment and welcome your own too.
