I tailor lessons to each individuals needs and learning style. I adjust the way I explain things to make sure you have fully understood. I know everyone learns in different ways and I make sure lessons keep you engaged. I explain in as much detail as necessary and ensure students are learning through practice. I want to help build confidence and try to make lessons as enjoyable as possible for students to keep them interested and engaged in learning.
I could do in person tutoring or for online tutoring I’d video call and use different formats such as online whiteboards, shared PowerPoint lessons and maths websites where I would work through problems with students. I am creative and open minded, I’m able to think of new ideas and ways to explain if something isn’t working for a student.
I have tutored GCSE and year 8 maths before and would be confident to tutor any maths level GCSE or under. One student I worked with was ADHD and struggled to stay concentrated at times. I planned my lessons to make sure we could swap topics or question type, move from whiteboard work to using physical learning tools such as counters and adjusted the pace of the lesson to keep them engaged.
I have a lot of experience volunteering with and babysitting children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and am studying education studies and SEND at university.
I am passionate about teaching, planning to be a teacher when I finish university and am eager for any opportunity to gain more experience.
