Teaching drama is my passion as I have been doing it for many years and enjoy helping students to ! I like to start each lesson by asking the student to give me some areas they are good at, and some areas they would like to improve on. From there we can lightly touch up on the things they already know and then work on their other areas while also teaching new stuff. I also like to do reviews at the end of lessons to make sure they are confident with their work. I don't like to work the students too hard, instead I like to find fun ways for them to remember the stuff I teach! (Flash cards, games, etc...)
Lesson content may include;
Technical theatre: Learning about theatre types, props, costume, sound, lighting, set and staging.
Emotional theatre: Emotions, body language, getting into character and portraying a character.
Physical theatre: Stage awareness, audience awareness, contact etc...
Drama practitioners: Learning about drama practitioners such as Stanislavski or Brecht and having an understanding of the way they portray theatre.
Written evaluations: Being able to evaluate a performance using key terms and being able to analyse the effect a performance has on an audience.
But all in all the learning is aimed to structure around the student's knowledge, understanding and learning pace. I don't like to set homework since they already get enough from school, but I may ask them to write a quick something here or there or have a think about a topic or question until the next session, or even send a small video for them to watch to get a better understanding on a topic. After all, it's the student's learning, and I'm here to help them!
Possible Factors That May Be Off Putting:
-I am 15 years old, however I have been doing theatre for over 10 years and am a GCSE drama student who is also in the waiting list for a professional drama program.
-I can only do online classes as I don't have enough time to drive places.
-I haven't tutored professionally before, but I have given lessons to younger students and led multiple study sessions at school.
