I am a university student studying Early Childhood Studies so have spent multiple years learning about different effective teaching methods. I understand that every child learns in different ways so it is very important to me that I give the best support during my tutoring sessions. I want to ensure that all students are taught in ways that will be most beneficial to them as an individual, in order to achieve the best results for them. I have experience working as a teaching assistant in a primary school, where I would often work with my own smaller groups or with children 1:1 with different activities for the subjects in the curriculum. I also have spent over a year childminding for a family with children aged 5-8, where I spend a lot of time tutoring them to help them improve their understanding with their work. I am happy working in different ways as I know a variety of methods and am very adaptable to do whatever I can to help the child most. I think using different learning strategies works very effectively when teaching children, as it enables them to remain focused as they are not completing repetitive work. It is crucial for the child to concentrate so I like to give the child different styles of work to do, and then use the ones that work best for them more often. Using these different approaches also allows me to see which areas that we are covering need more time spent on together to achieve a clear understanding.
