I have one year of formal teaching experience as an English teacher in Costa Rica and I am Level 5 TEFL certified. My classes have a strong emphasis on conversation, simulation and interaction, thereby helping students to improve their English conversational skills through role plays, debates and discussions etc. However, I also incorporate grammar, reading and writing practice into my lessons. I have taught a range of ages from high school students to adults, and all levels from beginner to advanced. Part of my duties as a teacher involved thorough lesson planning, preparing students for exams, marking exams, and providing constructive feedback on students’ progression, among many other responsibilities. I possess a wide range of teaching resources and I am highly capable of utilizing the appropriate materials to address the varying needs of students. I have a Bachelors in Sociology and a Masters in Religion in Global Politics which was graded distinction, and my thesis was recommended for publication. This, I believe, evidences my mastery of the English language. I have previous work experience as a Qualitative Researcher for the charity Medecins Sans Frontieres and as a Research Analyst for a leading consultancy firm called AEA Consulting. I am patient, kind and motivating, and I am deeply committed to ensuring each student is successful in their English language learning. If you think you would be interested in learning English with me, I invite you to book a trial lesson so we can get to know each other and discuss your goals! :)
