Doing psychology at uni level has made me realise the importance of getting to know how you learn best. After years of trying flashcards in GCSE and A level - and then being confused as to why I wasn’t doing well - led me to explore what revision methods work best for me. For me personally, I work best with mind maps, and I will use these in lessons alongside the students curriculum to create a mind map for the student to keep.
My lessons are aimed to be set up as a chilled out chat about their chosen topic whilst making a mind map (or whatever revision method they prefer) together. I don’t want to be uptight or intimidating in my lessons, I feel like the pressure of a strict teacher only enforces dread in the student when it comes to learning and exams. Education is so important and we should strive to love learning!
I could talk for England about psychology so any topic I am willing to teach/give support! Even if the student would like a discussion about a topic with no revision tactics that’s an option. I want the student to feel as comfortable as possible sharing what works best for them so I can be flexible for them and not the other way around :)
