I have an extensive history when it comes to art and creative mediums. I know a whole range of styles and techniques from basic acrylics all the way to digital art.
Whether you wish to learn about various art theories, art history, mediums, techniques, and skills, I will do everything I can to help you understand and improve.
I like to use plenty of visual aids to help me explain the information in a fun and interesting way. I create PowerPoint presentations for each lesson to ensure I cover everything needed in good time, opening discussion throughout the presentation to ensure you are understanding and learning.
I also do demonstrations myself while discussing the topic at hand to show the effects of different techniques on the outcome. In between sections of my lesson I will ask you to attempt the technique and then guide you through any difficulty you may have.
There are a few areas that I will always cover with every student regardless of skill level, including but not limited to colour and shape theory, composition, art style, and genre. Understanding these core areas almost guarantee improvement for any student and are the building blocks to creating impressive art.
I also like to use artist studies in my teaching, where I ask you to study an artist from history (linking to the particular style or technique we are covering) and challenge you to recreate a specific piece of their work. This homework helps you to take what you have learnt from our lesson and apply it to your own work while continuing to learn from other artists.
I believe that when teaching, there is no such thing and one size fits all. I will tweak my teaching style as I learn what helps you improve and what causes you to become stressed or uninterested. I believe that this way leads to much faster learning and a bigger passion for the subject!
