In the first lesson, i will ask your child how they want to approach these tutor sessions (ie. questions first, covering content etc) and what they want to get out of them (i.e if they want to get top marks, understand paragraph structures better etc.). Personally, i believe that spaced repetition along with active recall is one of the best methods that can be used to revise, so in each lesson we will do recall questions from the previous lessons to fully lock in the knowledge, and transfer it into their long term memory.
For my GCSEs, i sat the AQA english papers and therefore know exactly how to answer questions, key words and paragraph structures to include to ensure your child is unlocking their full potential within the subject. However, regardless of what exam board your child is sitting for their exams, i am fully willing to find and utilise all of my materials and share them with your child to make sure that they reach their target grades efficiently.
In terms of content knowledge for papers, i have extensive knowledge on english language paragraph structures and how to analyse the texts accordingly. For english literature, i have a deep understanding of all of the texts including: Dr jekyll and Mr Hyde, Macbeth, Romeo and juliet, A Christmas Carol and all other texts that fall under the AQA spec, but am also willing to read up on and gain resources on all Edexcel literature that your child needs an extensive knowledge of :)
