Elena Smirnova

Hi, my name is Elena, I'm a classically trained pianist, accompanist and an experienced piano and music theory teacher.

Originally from Lithuania, I started playing piano at the age of 6 and after moving to Scotland in 2005 I joined St Mary's Music School in Edinburgh.
In 2016 I completed my Bachelor's degree in Classical piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and in 2019 my Master's degree at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, both in London.

I am currently based in Glasgow, Scotland and I teach at my home. I am also able to travel to certain parts of Glasgow and teach online.

I teach beginner, intermediate and advanced pupils, as well as pupils returning to piano after a break. My lessons are tailored to each pupil's needs and interests and I'm happy to help with both casual and focused goals, including preparation for ABRSM and TCL exams, Grades 1-8 as well as Preparatory Grades and post-grade Diplomas. I can also help with coaching for SQA Music National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher performance modules.

I teach some basic music theory as part of the piano lessons as I believe it's an important part of music education, however I am able to give lessons dedicated to music theory, including tutoring for passing Grade 5 music theory. I am also able to help with preparation for the Aural test component of the ABRSM and TCL Grade exams.
