Hi all,
Before my experience and format of my lessons, a little about me: I am a university student who has worked and volunteered with children for four years. I am patient, understanding and empathetic towards young children and their frustrations.
I have experience as a reading tutor for children in KS3 which I did for a year, and a love of reading that has enabled me to volunteer in my local library.
I have also been a swimming teacher for two years and this has taught me the importance of adapting to each student's abilities and strengths in order for a better understanding.
I would use practice questions, videos, quizzes and more to keep the environment fun which I find is vital to a productive learning experience.
I would also look at the student's previous work and their curriculum to understand their need and initial position in order to fully understand their ability and reason for tutoring.
To me, creating rapport between me and the student is important for the development of their learning and understanding of the material, and so is a priority for me when working with children.
