I have experience in tailoring lessons to fit the student's preferred way of learning. For example, for hands on learning I incorporate the use of models in order to support the student's understanding. Additionally, I have experience in supporting students with learning difficulties such as ADHD and dyslexia. I tend to start at the beginning of a students curriculum and work my way down the list of topics- even if we encounter topics they have already learnt. This way, I am able to gauge the students actual level of understanding much better than their own teacher who has 20+ students. I find that- even if a student says they understand a topic- there still is one or two key components they miss out. Once we've covered a topic, I then like to sprinkle in a recap lesson a bit further down the line to test how much they've remembered and really cement that knowledge. These recap lessons come in the form of interactive games and short quizzes. Lastly, when nearing exam season, I ensure the student is confident in their abilities through the use of mock exam questions. At this time, I will also go through the students graded work with them and revise any mistakes. I've found these methods work wonders in ensuring the student is confident in their knowledge and ability.
