I have worked as a volunteer tutor with Jacari in Oxford for the past year, which involved tutoring EAL pupils in English. In addition, I was an exam invigilator, so am used to working with young people and exercising patience! I've been producing high quality resources for years 7-13 on TES since 2018 (see: and have had over 950 downloads so far. As well as this, I am a Geography Ambassador for Oxford's School of Geography and the Environment (SoGE). As part of this role, I have given talks which demystify Oxbridge to students across the UK, and participate in Careers Days and workshops. I am also a student ambassador for Mansfield College, and recently helped out with the Oxford Open Days, giving tours for prospective students and their parents, participating in mock interviews and helping to produce social media content.
During the first lesson, I will ascertain which learning styles work best for the pupil, by asking the revision and learning methods that they currently use and how useful they find them. I tend to use a variety of tools and materials during lessons to make them more engaging and interesting. I enjoy producing written diagrams and models for case studies, and produce sets on Quizizz or Quizlet for my student to use. I provide timely feedback on exam questions and show how examiners use their reports and mark schemes to grade students' work. I will hand-write exam questions for students and create reading lists which may further support them.
