My sessions encourage students to take control of their learning. I encourage them to tell me how they learn and process information best, and adapt my lessons to their style of learning. I will always make sure the student understands the content we cover, by asking them questions throughout the lessons, and starting each new session with a quick recap of our last lesson. I also encourage work outside of the tutoring, so will set exam questions and homework tasks to help them fully engage with the material we cover.
I have been tutoring for just under a year, and all the students I have taught have seen great improvements in their work! I always remind my students that I am there to help and not discipline - the most important thing for me is build a good relationship with the student. This means they are more likely to feel comfortable asking questions and getting things wrong - which is a key part of the learning process.
If a student feels at any point that the style of teaching is not working for them, I am always more than happy to adapt my lessons to suit them in a more effective way. To get the most out tutoring, the key thing is a great partnership between the tutor and the student, hence why I am always willing to help out where I can! Overall, I create my sessions to be effective as well as interesting for the student, whilst also seeing improvements in grades and ability!
