I prefer to use a multimedia approach with a specific focus of visual data - less text, more photos, infographics, graphs, and other forms of information visualisation.
I usually start with a general overview via a presentation, and then delve deeper into the presentation components through worksheets and videos.
At the end I choose to give a couple of potential essay questions to students in order to understand how well they've grasped the material and whether more work needs to be done in specific areas.
Additionally, I give out examples of essays and presentations. This is done so the student understands the exam and coursework structure and mentally prepared themselves for their own assessments.
For homework, I request either essays or presentations, which the student makes using the materials given to them in class. I also give a comprehensive insight into the marking schemes and bands, which allows the student to assess how well they're doing on a certain topic.
For case studies, I use a mix of summaries and videos, both news and documentaries, so that the student may visualise the situation, breather than be bombarded with statistics and figures.
Overall, my approach is very multifaceted and I alter it slightly according to each student's needs. I understand that the subject of geography may be daunting and unfamiliar to some, which is why I believe that it's so important to actually engage the students in their own learning, rather than hand out sheets upon sheets of block writing and make them write essays for days on end.
