The driving foundations of my lessons are founded on simplicity and concision. For many who struggle with basic mathematics, the usual issue is that these students approach towards mathematics in a formulaic way. Part of my lessons would be to provide explanation on how certain solutions are derived, as well as provide advice on what exact skills are tested in a particular question. Through such a methodology, students are better able to develop the foundations for their mathematics, and recognise the patterns in the questions. Such pattern recognition is especially important for mathematics, as it greatly reduces the time taken to solve a problem. It also reduces the level of 'brute-forcing' or try-and-error in trying to approach problems.
My education background prior to studying Law at UCl was one of a relatively disadvantaged background. I grew up in an uncompetitive academic environment which offered little support. I am thus familiar with students who are unconfident and struggling to approach Mathematics in a non-formulaic way. During my schooling days, schoolmates frequently relied on me to tutor them, especially in mathematics.
As part of my legal training, I can explain complex concepts in a simple and concise fashion, not unlike explaining a point to a judge. My diverse educational background allows me to empathise with my students and my legal training puts me in better stead to tutor, compared to maths graduates who might be technical experts without teaching expertise.
