My approach to teaching and lessons are suited to the needs and goals of my students. In broad terms, I aim to maximise the time spent with students to ensure they get the most out of the session. In order to do this, I ensure to liaise with students and ascertain what they want out of my lessons and what their short- and long-term goals are, if applicable. Whether it’s a one-off sessions or a long term series of tutorials, I can offer expert knowledge in the field of history between

Breakdown of lessons and teaching approach:
- Tutorial sessions: The aim of these sessions is to allow for myself and students to tackle a particular topic, period, or text in order to develop their knowledge and understanding. The structure of these sessions is interactive and also adaptive, depending on the needs of the student, these sessions can be oriented towards a more traditional lecture style of learning or a more conversational approach where the tutor and student discuss the topic of the lessons directly.

- Skills sessions and analytical techniques: Similar to the tutorial sessions I also offer lessons focused on particular skills and techniques. This includes close reading of primary and secondary sources, tutorials on developing an argument, workshops on historiographical methodology (includes broad methodologies such as Marxism, Postcolonialism, Poststructuralism as well as period specific e.g. New British History). For undergraduate and postgraduate students, I offer sessions focused on researching and locating primary sources using archival catalogues and digital archives.

- Interactive workshops on exams and essay preparation: Beyond learning skills and developing knowledge, I offer guidance and tutorials on how to prepare for assignments. This includes discussing essay structure and exam preparation. (These sessions are focused on planning and preparation. I will not, under any circumstance, write any essays or exams on behalf of a student.)
Sessions can be between 1-3 hours.

My experience:
- I’m a specialist in the long eighteenth century ( ), with a particular emphasis on social, cultural, and gender history. I have PhD , MA , and BA in history.
- I have extensive teaching and marking experience with Early Modern and Modern history at undergraduate level. For undergraduate and postgraduate students, I can provide insight into course structure as well as how to approach assignments both from the perspective of a former student and an academic lecturer.
