Hello!
My name is Edi and I’m a 23 year old qualified English teacher based in Leamington Spa, looking to bring a fun and engaging lesson format to learners all over the world!
I have a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Creative Writing, through which I discovered a love for studying English and a passion for sharing this knowledge with others.
This led me to begin tutoring as a freelance job, assisting others with writing tasks ranging from formal documents to creative work. It is through this year of tutoring experience that I began to consider teaching English as a career path.
Following this year of tutoring, I was given the opportunity to teach children abroad in Cambodia. During my time there, I was able to really immerse myself in the culture and learn how to communicate across cultures whilst still maintaining a high level of respect. Additionally, I was able to uncover what it is that made a good teacher and a memorable lesson, drawing on experience from my previous work tutoring writing.
The skills I wish to bring to this position are focused around a student-first learning approach, which aims to make the lessons personal to the learners and ensure that they find themselves actively involved in the learning experience. Whether this be through making custom resources, planning lessons around a certain theme or simply asking the students what their interests are, I strongly believe that I will be able to provide memorable learning experiences that encourage you to enjoy studying English.
I also believe that languages should be taught and learnt in a way that is engaging and feels meaningful to the students. Rather than just drilling grammar repeatedly, I think it’s incredibly important to get the students to feel like they have the power to produce a language and create beautiful things with it, both in spoken and written forms. In Cambodia, I found students learn best when I had created resources that related to Cambodian culture or any specific interests they had shared with me. Therefore, you can be sure that whatever we're studying, it'll be delivered in a way that you find interesting!
It’s this specific approach I bring to my lessons, and so if this sounds like a good fit for you, don't hesitate to contact me!
