Hello,
My TEFL story started while I was in my Doctorate path’s final year. I had just finished a period of 3 years living in Edinburgh (Scotland) and had to head home in Brazil to finish writing my PhD thesis.
That is when I decided to use my experience as an academic to become an English Instructor in my home country (which I did for 5 years from through various media, including hybrid and fully remote).
I worked with a contract for an English School until 2018 teaching different levels (groups and individuals) such as Basic, Intermediate and Advanced ones, Business and groups preparing to become certified in the IELTS/TOEFL tests to study abroad.
After that, I worked mostly remotely and freelance with individuals who wanted to improve their skills to study abroad such as undergraduates and graduates who applied for study scholarships through Brazilian agencies such as CAPES and CNPq.
In the end of 2022, I decided to become a certified TEFL Instructor through I-to-I and have recently finished my studies and received my certification in April 2023. I have also started a certification in Bilingual Formation to get acquainted with the latest advances in Language Studies and its relationships with Neuroscience and Digital Educational Technologies (this certification will end in July 2023 and is in progress).
Aside from that, I have also a comprehensive career as a High School History Teacher and have also Coordinated Afterschool Clubs in Brazil and now, in Scotland (STEM and Educational Robotics Courses/Camps/Workshops). I can say now that I love to learn and have a profound respect to the dialogue that is needed for the Learning-Teaching Process to happen. Overall, I can say I’m passionate about teaching!
