I like to teach my lessons with no pressure or judgement. English is all about interpretation so their will never be any wrong answers. I like to engage with the wider historical discourse first and then go into the texts as a whole, it gives you a understanding of the era you’re talking about the text with the necessary context. Lessons above all else will be tailored to what the student wants to talk about and focus on, any issues, confusions or even just general inquiries about the texts. I tend to let the student speak more than I necessarily would, i find its easier for a student to engage with the ideas if the questions are heavily focused on oral interpretation, speaking about your thougts help you retain and remember your ideas.
