Honestly it depends on the student as each person has different requirements. For examples: Adults have experience so you can often do exercises based on their personal experience - however it also depends on their level - if they were C1 and there hobby was football - could ask them to explain the rule even ask then to explain offsides. With a student who is A2 even being an adult with experience they would not have the vocab for this and it would be rather defeating for them. I love using videos, pictures, books, getting my student involved but based on what drives them and why they need English. Which grammar mistakes they need to work on. Trying to make it fun.
