I am a student currently doing a BSc in Mathematics and Physics, with a Bachelor's qualification in Architecture. I have been tutoring for almost 8 years now and have assisted students of varying ages, ranging from 12 years old to 18 years old, assisting a few students with university level Mathematics. I work meticulously through examples and questions, following and explaining a step-by-step procedure on how to approach and answer questions to assist students in better understanding the work. By working through many different types of examples with the student, it helps them to get a better understanding of what will be expected of them and the different ways that a question could be asked, as well as the procedure and approach needed for the different types of questions. Working through past tests and exams is another method I employ quite a lot as this helps better reinforce what is to be expected in a test or exam, as there is often a lot of anxiety amongst students about what they should be expecting. I often write down examples and notes while working with the student, which I'm happy to pass through to the student upon request. I do, however, encourage the student to be taking their own notes, as note making is an important skill that can be of great importance when preparing for tests and exams. The overall premise for my lessons is to find out from the student where their strengths and weaknesses lie, and work through a variety of examples to ensure those weaknesses become strengths, as well as building a strong level of confidence in the student's abilities.
