Having achieved A*AAA at A Level, including biology, chemistry and English, I went to work as a tutor teaching chemistry and biology during my time as a Laboratory technician in Denbigh High school within a gap year. Currently I am studying Biological and Medical Sciences at Liverpool university on target for a 1st Class Honours. In turn, meaning I have a variety of different times I will be able to undertake with students.
My first lesson would involve a general assessment where I get to know my individual student and discuss with them what they believe to be the most effective use of our time together; whether that’s content learning, practice questions walkthroughs or a mixture of both.
As the Academic Secretary for Liverpool Universities Biomedical Society, I have a drive for bettering the learning of new potential scientists. Moreover, having undertaken biology tutoring during my time in Denbigh High school, I have developed a honed knowledge of how to accurately relay content to a newer student who may be struggling to grasp a certain topic.
I would prefer online tutoring lessons as it makes it easier for parents to fit into their schedules, however I am capable of in person lessons if that is required. These online lessons would take place on Microsoft teams, however if access is limited other platforms, or as mentions in person lesson may commence.
I am very chatty and easy to talk to. Additionally, having been tutored earlier within my life I can empathise with students who may be nervous, and therefore can adapt my lessons to suit them to ease their nerves.
