I like to keep my classes lighthearted, relaxed, and (usually) with quite a bit of laughing from both the students and I. In my experience, school is usually strict, and students learn far better when they are comfortable and able to express themselves. I like to keep my classes lighthearted, relaxed, and (usually) with quite a bit of laughing from both the students and I. In my experience, school is usually strict, and students learn far better when they are comfortable and able to express themselves. Whilst this is the case, I always make sure the class is on topic and we are making progress on the lesson, with the hope to understand 1-2 topics per class depending on the complexity.
I have different lesson plans for students who learn in different ways: audible, tactile, visual, yet they all follow a similar style:
We converse through the topic to begin with at the beginning of each class and talk about strengths/where to develop.
I then go through an example of a question of said topic, allowing the student to lead or ask questions at any time, whilst explaining every step of the process.
After that, I ask whether they have any questions about the problem or any working out.
Then, we go through a question together, testing what parts they still need to develop, whilst refining those they grasp.
Then, I let the students go through a question individually, with the ability to ask questions on parts they are confused at, allowing them to cement the knowledge of what they know whilst having the confidence to ask questions about the subject.
I primarily use whiteboards (both online and in person), to describe and demonstrate the topic/questions.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me :)
