I am a full-time private mathematics tutor, and I provide ONLINE and IN-PERSON tuition in many areas across mathematics. My Enhanced DBS Check is available to be viewed upon request.
I graduated from Loughborough University in 2020 with a strong first-class Master of Mathematics degree (MMath). In October 2020, I had returned to Loughborough as a doctoral researcher working towards a PhD degree in Applied Mathematics, specialising in the field of nonlinear waves and fluid dynamics, under studentship funding by the EPSRC.
I have been teaching mathematics in some capacity ever since I completed my A-Levels (Maths, Further Maths, and Business Studies) in 2016, and as a part-time job throughout my undergraduate degree (2016-20) as well as my PhD (2020-24). Since submitting my PhD thesis in October 2024, I have been working as a full-time tutor helping GCSE / A-Level / IB / Undergraduate students to not only know how to use mathematics, but aim to understand it. As of January 2025, I have passed my PhD viva voce examination, and am currently carrying out minor corrections to my thesis, on-track to be graduating in the summer of 2025.
In addition to thoroughly enjoying tutoring students from many countries/backgrounds, and watching them become competent in a subject that most seem to fear, I create resources for the wider mathematics community, primarily by conjuring exam-styled questions not only for those who aim for a grade-B in their A-Levels, but also those who wish to take mathematics to undergraduate study and beyond.
From 2016 to 2020, I have made significant contributions to help students on online forums by making over 20,000 posts on the most popular student forum, some of which have recently went viral on the likes of TikTok as some of the most challenging Further Maths questions. In addition to my assistance on mathematical forums, I have accumulated over 5000 hours teaching students in one-on-one settings (online/in-person), teaching university students in seminars throughout my PhD, and teaching small groups in secondary schools.
My lessons are relaxed, structured, and adapted to the pace and ability of each and every student. Everyone learns differently, and I aim to adapt my teaching style based on the student. In the lessons, I am able to teach content from scratch and scaffold students up to a high level in a short space of time. A big point of focus is to also deliver exam-styled practice, demonstrating critical exam technique and linking different areas of mathematics together.
The free meeting which I offer before any lessons take place is typically dedicated to building rapport with a student, understanding their needs, and coming up with a viable plan to help tackle the challenges of the student. To help continue strong support between regular lessons, I encourage my students to keep in touch and ask for for help when doing homework. By adhering to certain learning techniques such as interleaving and spaced repetition, I have managed to ensure that the confidence of all my students increases withing a short period of time, which makes it a lot less scary to achieve the top grades.
